6a-7:30a (Sunrise): Practice will be outside overlooking the canyon. Bring shoes for this practice.

Rick Dulaney, Yodan (4th degree black belt), is the senior member of Grand Junction Shotokan Karate and serves as the Director for SKA’s Intermountain Region. In 1974, at the age of 14, Rick joined SKA and began practicing karate at Boise State University. Mr. Ohshima promoted him to Shodan (1st degree black belt) in 1977. Rick subsequently went on to lead the Boise State Dojo in addition to becoming a faculty member within the Physical Education Department, where he taught beginning and advanced karate classes as part of the PE Department curriculum. Mr. Dulaney joined the Fruita Dojo when he relocated to Grand Junction, Colorado in 2007. More recently, Rick was promoted to Yodan in 2013 in the presence of Mr. Ohshima, Jim Sagawa, and other top SKA seniors at the Shotokan Ohshima Dojo in Santa Barbara, California. Rick is a retired business executive and spends much of his free time exploring the back country of Colorado with his wife Chris. Rick also volunteers his time in the community when needed.
